Student and flat-share moves
Halls to a flat, one flat share to another, or a room of belongings at the end of a term. Small loads, tight budgets, and dates that all land in the same fortnight, so book early if you can.
Single room moves
One bedroom of furniture and boxes going to a new address. Far too much for a car, nowhere near a full house move, and priced accordingly.

Small removals in Glasgow

One person or two?
This is the question that decides how long the job takes, so it is worth thinking about before you book rather than discovering the answer on a stair. We will give you our honest view when you send the list, including telling you when one is enough.
One person is usually enough when

- Both addresses are ground floor or have a lift
- You are able and willing to help with the carrying
- It is a tip run or a charity drop where nothing is fragile
- Nothing in the load needs two people to lift it safely
One person and a van is the lighter option, and for a straightforward load it is genuinely all you need.
Two is worth paying for when
- There are stairs at either end, especially a tenement
- The load includes a sofa, a bed, a wardrobe or an appliance

- You will not be there to help, or would rather not lift
- Parking is tight and the carry to the van is long

Van sizes and what actually fits
People routinely underestimate volume, which is how a job booked as an hour turns into three. The rough guide below is the industry standard for each van size. When you send us a list we will tell you which one your job needs rather than sending the smallest and hoping.
Small van
Think of it as several car boots. A dozen or so boxes, a chest of drawers, a bike, a mattress at a push. Right for a tip run, a small Marketplace pickup or a student moving a room of belongings without furniture.
Long wheelbase van
The workhorse size for this kind of job. A single room of furniture and boxes, or a sofa plus a reasonable number of boxes. Most man and van bookings in Glasgow are this size.
Luton with a tail lift
Roughly a studio or small one bed flat worth of contents. The tail lift matters more than the extra space, because it means heavy items do not have to be lifted up into the van by hand.
The quickest way to size a job accurately is to count boxes and list the furniture separately. Ten boxes and a bed is a very different job from ten boxes and a three seat sofa, even though both are described as a small move.

What to tell us when you ask
The more accurate the information, the more accurate the answer, and the smaller the chance of a surprise on the day. None of this takes long to put together, and it is the difference between a firm booking and a rough guess.

The floor at each end, and any lift
Ground floor with parking outside is the simplest version of this job. Third floor tenement with no lift is a genuinely different one. If there is a service lift in a managed building, mention it, because most need booking in advance.
What the parking is like
Whether there is a driveway, a loading bay, a permit street or nothing at all. If the van has to sit fifty metres away then every trip takes longer, and where a suspension is worth arranging we will tell you.
Whether anything needs dismantling
Beds, flat pack and detachable sofa sections. It is often the difference between an item fitting and not fitting, so it is worth flagging rather than discovering it on the landing.
Your dates, and how flexible they are
A fixed date is fine, we just need to know. If you have a range, say so, because midweek slots are easier to find than Saturdays and month ends fill up first.

Glasgow access, and why it changes the job
Access is what changes a van job most. Two identical loads can differ by an hour and a half depending entirely on what sits between the front door and the van.
Tenement stairs are the obvious one. Three or four flights with a turn at the half landing slows every single trip, and a load that takes forty minutes at ground level can take twice that from a third floor. It is not a reason to avoid booking, it is a reason to tell us upfront so the quote is right and the slot is long enough.
Parking is the other one. Much of the West End, the city centre and the inner Southside is permit controlled, and if the van has to sit fifty metres away every trip gets longer. Where a suspension is worth arranging we will say so. City centre jobs also need planning around the Low Emission Zone and around loading restrictions that are enforced rather than theoretical.
New build flats are usually easier, but most developments require the service lift to be booked in advance, and turning up without one can cost you the whole slot. If you are in a managed building, check with the concierge before you book us.

You are moving a whole home
Once the list becomes most of a property, a van booking stops being the efficient way to do it. A house move is planned, surveyed and run as one job, with a crew sized to finish inside a day. If you are moving a one bed flat or larger, our house removals service will almost certainly suit it better and take less out of you.
The item is the difficult part
If the job is one piece that needs real handling, an antique dresser, a glass cabinet, a corner suite that has to come apart to get round a stair turn, that is furniture work rather than van work.
