What our Glasgow commercial removals service covers
Business removals in Glasgow covers a great deal more ground than moving desks. In a single month we might empty a shop unit on Sauchiehall Street overnight so it can trade the next morning, strip and relocate pallet racking from a unit in Hillington, move a commercial kitchen out of a restaurant in Finnieston between service and opening, and clear a decommissioned workshop in Cambuslang down to bare walls.
What those jobs share is not the contents. It is the constraint. A business that stops trading is losing money by the hour, so the plan matters more than the muscle. We survey the site, write a schedule around your quiet window, bring the right lifting equipment for what is actually in the building, and hand you back a premises you can open, cook in or operate from immediately.
If what you are moving is a conventional desk-based office with workstations and IT, our office relocation service is the page you want. It covers crate systems, desk labelling and phased departmental moves in detail. This page is for everything else: the premises where the fixtures, the stock and the equipment are the difficult part. Both sit within our wider Glasgow removals service, and where a business needs both, we quote it as one job.
The business premises we move
Every trade breaks in a different place on moving day. These are the premises types we handle most often across Glasgow, and the part of each that usually needs the most planning.
Retail units and shops
Stock, fixtures, shelving, counters and shopfitting. Retail moves live or die on trading hours, so most of ours run overnight or before opening. Stock is moved by category and boxed so it can go straight back out on the shelf rather than being sorted twice.
Warehouses and industrial units
Pallet racking dismantled and reinstalled, palletised stock moved with the right handling equipment, and plant relocated with lifting gear rather than optimism. We work to your stock system so the inventory still makes sense at the far end.
Bars, cafes and restaurants
Commercial kitchens are the most awkward premises we move. Heavy stainless steel, gas and electrical disconnection to schedule around, cold storage that cannot sit warm for long, and dining furniture in volumes people always underestimate.
Clinics, labs and healthcare premises
Sensitive and regulated equipment, controlled storage, and patient records that need a documented chain of custody. Everything is inventoried and sealed, and we work to whatever your regulator requires.
Gyms, studios, salons and workshops
Heavy fixed equipment, mirrors and glass, treatment furniture, tooling and benches. These premises are full of items that are either very heavy, very fragile, or bolted to something.
Consolidations and clearances
Merging two premises into one, closing a site, or clearing a unit at the end of a lease. We move what is being kept, and dispose of or store the rest so you hand back an empty building on time.
How a commercial move runs
Six stages. You will know what is happening at each one, and so will your landlord.
Site survey and risk assessment
We walk both premises, ideally on one visit. We are recording volumes, weights, fixings, floor levels, door and lift dimensions, loading access and anything that will need specialist lifting. That survey produces the risk assessment and method statement your landlord or site manager will almost certainly ask for.
Move plan and schedule
You get a written plan: the running order, crew size, vehicle numbers, the exact window we occupy your loading bay, and who is responsible for disconnecting services. If trades need to attend, gas, electrical or IT, the plan sequences them so nobody is waiting on anybody.
Labelling, crating and inventory
Stock and equipment are crated and labelled against a numbered plan of the new premises. For regulated or high value items we run a signed inventory at both ends, so what left the building and what arrived are documented rather than assumed.
Dismantling and disconnection
Racking, shelving, counters, benches and fixed equipment come apart in a controlled order, with fixings bagged and labelled to their unit. Anything needing a certified trade to disconnect is scheduled rather than improvised on the night.
Transport
Loads are built to the plan, not to whatever is nearest the door, and heavy or unstable items travel secured rather than wedged. On larger jobs we run several vehicles so the new premises is being built up while the old one is still being cleared.
Reinstallation and sign-off
Racking goes back up, fixtures are reinstalled, stock lands where the plan says, and we walk the site with you before we leave. You sign off on a premises that is ready to trade, and we take the empty crates away with us.
Specialist handling for commercial equipment
Most of what makes a commercial move difficult is a handful of items that cannot be carried the way everything else is carried. These are the ones that shape the plan and the price.
Heavy plant and machinery
Machine tools, compressors, industrial ovens and anything that arrived on a pallet truck and is not leaving any other way. Moved with proper lifting equipment, skates and load spreading rather than four people and a hope.
Pallet racking and shelving
Dismantled, transported and reinstalled to the original configuration or to a new layout. Uprights and beams stay in matched sets so the system goes back together as it was designed to.
Commercial kitchen equipment
Ranges, fryers, cold rooms, prep counters and extraction. Heavy, sharp edged and unforgiving of a bad lift. We schedule around certified disconnection and reconnection rather than touching services ourselves.
Stock and inventory
Boxed and moved by category, with counts recorded where you need them. Retail stock is loaded so that it comes off the van in the order it goes back onto the shelf.
Secure and confidential items
Sealed, numbered crates with a signed inventory for patient records, client files, controlled stock and anything carrying a compliance requirement.
Fragile fixtures and shopfitting
Glass counters, display cabinets, mirrors, signage and bespoke joinery. Crated or blanket wrapped and braced, because these are the items that are slow and expensive to replace.
Moving without closing the business
For most commercial clients the removals invoice is the small number. The big one is lost trade. A shop that cannot open on Saturday, a kitchen that misses a weekend service, a warehouse that cannot pick and despatch for two days: those are the costs worth designing the move around.
So we work when you do not. Retail moves typically run overnight, out at ten and reinstalled before the shutters go up. Hospitality moves slot between close and the next service, or across a Sunday and Monday. Warehouse and industrial moves are usually phased by aisle or by bay, so despatch keeps running from one half of the building while the other half is being emptied.
City centre premises add their own constraints. Loading windows around Buchanan Street and the Merchant City are tight and enforced, the Low Emission Zone shapes what can come into the centre, and a fair number of buildings will only grant access outside trading hours anyway. We plan for those rules rather than discovering them at seven in the morning with a van on a double yellow.
- Overnight and pre-opening retail moves
- Between service moves for hospitality
- Phased warehouse moves by aisle or bay
- Loading bay and lift windows booked ahead
- Low Emission Zone and permit bays planned for
- Weekend and bank holiday crews available

Compliance, cover and site access
Commercial moves come with paperwork that domestic moves do not. Getting it right in advance is usually what decides whether you get through the door on the night.
Insurance that covers commercial value
Goods in transit and public liability cover apply to every job, with the limits written into your quote rather than left vague. If your stock or equipment carries a value above the standard limit, tell us at survey and we will arrange cover to match it.
Risk assessments and method statements
Produced from the site survey and issued before the move. Most landlords, managed estates and industrial sites will not grant access without them, and supplying them late is one of the most common reasons a commercial move slips.
Vetted and trained crew
Every crew member is employed by us, trained on manual handling and briefed on your specific site before arrival. Nobody turns up having never seen the building or the plan.
Clearance and disposal
Fixtures you are not taking, redundant furniture and packaging can be cleared and disposed of responsibly, so the premises is handed back in the condition your lease requires.
Why Glasgow businesses choose us
A large share of the search results for commercial removals in Glasgow are brokers rather than movers. They take your enquiry, sell it to whoever is buying leads that week, and you spend the afternoon describing your warehouse to three companies you never contacted. We are the company that actually arrives: our name, our employed crew, our vans, our insurance.
On a commercial job that matters more than it does on a house move. When a landlord shortens the access window at two days notice, or a disconnection runs late and the whole schedule needs rebuilding, you need the person who can change the plan on the phone. Here that is your coordinator, directly. There is no middle layer relaying messages to a subcontractor who priced the job blind.
It matters for competence too. The people who surveyed your premises are the people who wrote the method statement and the people who carry the racking out. Nobody arrives on the night having never seen the building.
- Our own employed crews, never brokered out
- Our own fleet and lifting equipment
- Cover limits stated in writing before you book
- Paperwork ready for landlords and site managers
- One coordinator on a direct number
- Fixed written pricing agreed before the date is held
Where we move businesses across Glasgow
We cover the retail streets, the city centre, the industrial estates and the towns around them. The estates at Hillington, Cambuslang and Queenslie make up a large share of our warehouse and workshop work, while retail and hospitality moves cluster in the centre, the West End and the Southside. Each brings a different access problem: tight loading windows in the centre, yard and dock height on the estates, and shared service lanes behind most retail parades.
- City Centre & Buchanan Street
- Merchant City & Trongate
- Finnieston & Anderston
- Hillington & Govan industrial estates
- Cambuslang & Rutherglen
- Clyde Waterfront & retail parks
- Paisley & Renfrew
- East Kilbride & Hamilton
- Clydebank & Coatbridge
We also handle business relocations out of Glasgow entirely, including multi-site consolidations where stock from several units lands in one new premises. Those are quoted as a single project with one schedule rather than as separate moves.
What shapes the cost of a commercial move
Commercial removals are always priced per job. There is no table that fairly covers a hairdressing salon and a pallet racked warehouse, so we survey and quote what is in front of us. These are the factors that move the number, in roughly the order they matter.
Volume, not floor area
What matters is how much is leaving the building, not how big the building is. A half empty warehouse is a smaller job than a packed retail unit a third of the size.
Access and floor level
Ground floor with a roller door and a yard is the cheapest scenario there is. An upper floor with a shared passenger lift, or a unit with no dock and a long carry to the van, adds hours to every load.
Specialist equipment
Racking, plant, cold rooms and anything needing lifting gear or a certified trade to disconnect. This is usually the single biggest swing factor in a commercial quote.
Timing
Nights, weekends and bank holidays carry a premium. Nearly every commercial client takes it anyway, because it costs less than closing.
Distance and number of sites
One premises to one premises is straightforward. A consolidation from three units into one, or a move out of the city, changes the schedule rather than just the mileage.
Storage and clearance
A gap between leases, or a building that has to be handed back empty, adds a storage or disposal leg to the job. Both are cheaper arranged upfront than improvised at the end.
At survey we will tell you which of these is driving your price and where there is room to bring it down. Clearing redundant stock before the move, or shifting the date off a month end, is often worth more than haggling over the day rate.
What our commercial clients say
“They emptied the shop overnight and had the new unit fitted out and stocked before we opened. We lost half a day of trade instead of the week we had budgeted for.”
Owner
Retail unit, city centre
“Our racking was the thing I was worried about. They stripped it, moved it and put it back up exactly as it was, and the stock went back on in the right order.”
Warehouse Manager
Distribution unit, Hillington
“Kitchen move between a Sunday close and a Tuesday open. They worked around the gas engineer without any drama and nothing arrived damaged.”
Director
Restaurant group, Finnieston
Commercial removals questions, answered
Four to six weeks is comfortable for anything involving racking, plant or a managed building, because risk assessments, lift bookings and access permissions all take time to clear. A small shop or studio can often be done inside a fortnight. If your date is already fixed and tight, call anyway, because out of hours slots are usually easier to find at short notice than daytime ones.
Yes, and most of our commercial work runs that way. Retail moves are typically overnight, hospitality moves slot between service and opening, and warehouse moves are often phased across a weekend so despatch never fully stops.
Goods in transit and public liability cover apply to every job, with the limits set out in your written quote. Where stock, plant or equipment carries a value above the standard limit, tell us at survey and we will arrange cover that matches it rather than leaving you exposed.
Yes, within reason. Machine tools, compressors, industrial ovens, safes and gym equipment are routine for us with the right skates, lifting gear and load spreading. At survey we will be straight with you if an item genuinely needs a specialist rigging contractor rather than a removals crew.
Yes. Pallet racking and industrial shelving are dismantled, transported and reinstalled either to the original configuration or to a new layout you supply. Components are kept in matched sets so the system rebuilds correctly.
Yes. Where the new lease starts after the old one ends, we collect, inventory, store and redeliver as a single booking through our removals and storage service, so you are not renting a unit and paying to move twice.
Yes. Redundant fixtures, furniture, packaging and stock can be cleared and disposed of responsibly as part of the job, which is usually what a landlord means when the lease says the premises must be handed back empty.
We do, and it has its own page because the detail is different. If your move is desk based with workstations and IT, see office relocation in Glasgow. Where a business has both an office and a warehouse or shop floor, we quote the whole thing as one project.
