Move plan and date confirmed
Once you accept, the date is held and we confirm the detail: arrival time, crew size, vehicle, whether a parking suspension is needed, and what you need to do beforehand. You get a named coordinator with a direct number rather than a general enquiries line.
Packing, if you want it
You can pack yourself with materials we deliver ahead of time, have us pack only the fragile things, or hand the whole job over and have us pack the house the day before. Most people choose fragile only, which covers kitchens, glassware and artwork.
Moving day
The crew arrives at the agreed time, protects floors and doorways, dismantles what needs dismantling and wraps furniture before it moves. Loading follows a plan so the first things off at the far end are the things you will want first.
Unloading and room by room placement
Boxes go to the room written on them, furniture is rebuilt and positioned where you want it, and beds go back together before we leave. Nobody should be sleeping on a mattress on the floor because the crew ran out of time.
Settling in

What makes moving house in Glasgow different
Glasgow moves rarely go wrong because of distance. They go wrong because of access, and the city has more access problems per square mile than most.
The tenement stair is the big one. Three or four flights of a shared close, a half landing with a turn at the top, and a doorway that was designed long before anyone owned a corner sofa. Experienced crews take the wardrobe apart on the landing rather than trying to wrestle it round the turn, and they know which pieces simply will not go and need to come out through a window or not at all. That is a decision worth making at survey rather than at eight on a Friday morning.
Then there is parking. Much of the West End, the city centre and the inner Southside is permit only, and a Luton parked fifty metres from the close adds an hour to a move before anyone has carried anything. Where a street needs one, we arrange a parking suspension with Glasgow City Council in advance. City centre moves also need planning around the Low Emission Zone and around loading restrictions that are enforced properly rather than theoretically.

What shapes the cost of a house move in Glasgow

Floor level and access
A ground floor flat with a driveway and a third floor tenement with a shared close are different jobs at the same volume. Stairs, lift availability and the carry distance to the van all add time.
Packing
Doing it yourself is cheapest. Fragile only packing is the most common middle ground. Full packing costs the most and saves the most time, and for a three bed house it typically means eighty to a hundred and twenty boxes done in a day.
Dismantling and reassembly
Beds and flat pack are quick. Fitted wardrobes, large corner sofas, garden furniture and anything bolted to a wall take longer and are worth flagging at survey.
Distance
Within Glasgow the driving is a small part of the job. Once you go beyond the central belt, mileage, driver hours and whether the move can still be done in one day begin to matter.
Date and timing

Almost everything that goes wrong on moving day was fixable a fortnight earlier. This is the timeline we give our own customers, and it works whether you book us or not.
Eight weeks out
- Get quotes and book your removals company, especially for a Friday or a month end date
- Confirm the entry date with your solicitor
- Start clearing what is not coming with you: charity, resale, recycling centre
- Flag anything specialist at survey: piano, safe, large aquarium, gun cabinet
- If there is a gap between dates, arrange storage now rather than in the last fortnight
Four weeks out
- Order packing materials, or confirm the date if we are packing for you
- Start on anything you will not need: books, out of season clothes, ornaments
- Notify utilities, council tax, broadband and the TV licence of your date
- Set up a Royal Mail redirect
- Register with a new GP and dentist if you are moving across the city
One week out

Two to three weeks is comfortable for most moves. Fridays, month ends and the school holidays are the busiest slots and they fill first, so if your date falls on one of those, four weeks is safer. If your entry date has only just been confirmed for this Friday, call us anyway. We keep some capacity back for exactly that situation, because in Scotland dates firm up late.
A one or two bed flat with reasonable access is usually a half day. A three bed house is typically a full day, and a four or five bed house with a garage and a loft can run into a second day or need a larger crew to stay inside one. Tenement stairs add time, so a two bed on the third floor can take as long as a three bed bungalow.
